Player Profile – Edel Brennan

As James Brown put it, ‘This is a man’s world. But it wouldn’t be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl.’ So it’s about time Ranelagh Gaels’ Player Profile spotlight pointed at the club’s 2010 Dublin Junior E Championship winning ladies captain.

Edel Brennan says that Liam puts all her team’s three managers in the shade, claims that she’ll do whatever Denis Doolan tells her and we reckon with her basketball skills she could teach even LeBron James a thing or two.

Name: Edel Brennan

Age:27

Hometown/club: Sligo

Occupation: Teacher

Facebook status: Don’t have one

Position (keep it clean!): Wherever Denis tells me. (We said keep it clean, Edel!)

Joined the Gaels: 2009

Who is your favourite manager – Brian, Denis or Ronan: They are all in Liam’s shadow.

Favourite Gaels memory: Winning the Junior E Championship last year.

First three songs on your ipod/MP3 on shuffle: I’m all about the cheese so could be anything from Cyndi Lauper to Beyonce or Katy Perry.

Colin Farrell or Craig Doyle: Colin Farrell

Shopping on Saturday or Sky Sports Soccer Saturday: Shopping on Saturday.

.

The Gaels player that should take over as Taoiseach and why: Anyone one of our ladies could do the job but it will take a lady to do it right.

You’ve just won the €7,300 top prize in the Ranelagh Gaels Club Lotto – you spend the money on: A team holiday when we win the championship in 2011.

Watching the Men’s team is annoying because: I am usually watching them on a Sunday morning when I should be in bed!

Rule change that would make football better: Maybe I should learn the rules before I try to change them…

In ten years time the Gaels will be: Senior champions

If you weren’t kicking a ball with the Gaels you’d be: Watching the soaps!!

Playing Ladies Football for Ranelagh Gaels is great because: We managed to win a championship in our first year!
