Player Profile: Caoimhe Malone

It has been a while since we turned the Ranelagh Gaels Player Profile Spotlight on so under the circumstances we had to go for one of the club’s biggest personalities.

So once they all turned us down, we put Caoimhe Malone under the harsh glare.

She was there when the ladies team first started and she was there when they won the championship last year.

She has less creditable entries on her CV however, which would include the fact that she’s marrying ambulance chaser Brian Regan this summer.

She claims that Matthew McConaughey is her favourite lawyer, but we really know that she loves Brian, who, when he isn’t hanging around slippery walkways with a neck-brace in his briefcase, is also captain of the men’s team.

Name: Caoimhe Malone

Age: 29 (really!)

Hometown/club: I left a glittering camogie career with Ballyboden St Enda’s to join the lady Gaels.

Occupation: “I work in insurance”

Facebook status: I’m a bit of a fair-weather facebooker…

Position (keep it clean!): Cornerback

Joined the Gaels: At a poorly attended inaugural meeting in Smyth’s. From little acorns…

Best words of wisdom from Brian, Denis, Jimmy or Ronan: Jimmy – “Fitness is a state of mind.” PS I can’t make training on Wednesday, I’m seeing my shrink.

Favourite Gaels memory: Winning the championship last summer and the reaction of management!

First three songs on your ipod/MP3 on shuffle: Adele, Someone Like You; Bruno Mars, The Lazy Song; and the Saw Doctors, The Green and Red of Mayo!

Last decent film you saw: The Lincoln Lawyer. I have a weakness for Matthew!

Black porter or red wine: Red wine

Shopping on Saturday or Sky Sports Soccer Saturday: Definitely shopping on Saturday.

Dublin or Mayo: Come on You Boys in Blue!

Watching the Men’s team is annoying because: It usually involves a trip to A&E afterwards.

Least favourite thing about junior football: Rolestown

Worst time keeper on the panel: Is that a personalised question?

You’ve just won the €800 top prize in the Ranelagh Gaels Club Lotto – you spend the money on: A training session for the ladies with Sean Og O h Ailpin. And if we’ve change, one with Paul Galvin (for tips on how to accessorise skinny jeans with football socks).

If you weren’t kicking a ball with the Gaels you’d be: More up to speed on the soaps!

Rule change that would make football better: Advantage. Learn from the rugby boys and lay off the whistle!

In ten years time the Gaels will be: Thriving and enjoying our state-of-the–art clubhouse in Bushy Park.

Playing Junior C Football for Ranelagh Gaels is great because: Do I not play Junior D? (note from editor – good point, that question was meant for a men’s player profile)

  2. I think that what you composed made a bunch of sense. However, what
about this? what if you were to write a awesome headline?
I am not saying your information isn’t good, however what if
you added a title that makes people desire more? I mean Player Profile:
Caoimhe Malone : Ranelagh Gaels is kinda plain. You
should look at Yahoo’s home page and note how they write post headlines to get viewers to open the links.
You might add a video or a pic or two to grab readers interested about everything’ve
written. Just my opinion, it could bring your blog a little bit more interesting.
