Gaels Lucan Good At Last

Ranelagh Gaels 1-10
Lucan Sarsfields 1-7

Ranelagh Gaels finally got the show on the road in 2012 with a hard-fought Murphy Cup win over Lucan Sarsfields on Sunday.

The Gaels had lost their first two games of the season, so it was important to get the right result at the weekend.

At half-time playing away from home Liam O’Hagan‘s team had left themselves a lot of work to do.

The scores were tied at 1-3 to 0-6, with Sars’ goal coming from a speculative shot that squeezed into the net.

But playing into the wind after the break the Gaels showed massive desire and really upped the work-rate.

Conor Harnett scored 1-2 from the middle of the field, with Alan Toolan working his socks off alongside him in the engineroom.

Denis Doolan moved to centre-forward and pulled the strings, with the influential Denis Crehan coming into the game as a substitute at centre-back.

All of the 18 players used on the day contributed to what was a well-deserved win and now the team can look forward to next Sunday’s AFL Division 8 game against St Joseph’s OCB with confidence.

  1. Well Done men, well deserved after the effort and attendance at training, great stuff, absolutely delighted for the team and Liam, you will keep on improving from here, of that I have no doubt.
