Gaels Up For The Cup

Ranelagh Gaels   4-9          Templeogue Synge St   1-7

Ranelagh Gaels produced a dominant second half display to record a comfortable win against Templeogue Synge St at Bushy Park on Wednesday night.

With numbers at a premium on the Synge St side the match started with fourteen players each and an injury soon after left the sides at thirteen a piece before reinforcements arrived.

The reduced numbers meant plenty of space on the field and Edel O’Brien took full advantage, producing a sensational performance form start to finish.

Her namesake Brennan at full forward led the side and set up numerous scoring opportunities for the runners coming through the middle.

Anna King and Sharon McGeady were the main beneficiaries with the latter netting a goal after a fine passing move.

Brid Firtear was pulling the strings around the middle with quick ball going into the space in front of the forwards.

Synge St managed to pull a goal back just before half time leaving just five points in it, 2-5 to 1-3, not a true reflection of the Gaels dominance.

Jimmy Trimble reminded his troops of the need to keep their foot on the pedal and the second half turned into a procession with two further goals added from Ger Connolly and a second for sharp-shooter O’Brien.

Most teams are now entering a two-week break period but with games in hand to catch up on, Ranelagh enter a crucial period of their season, a trip to Ballyboden is scheduled for Wednesday next.
