Jude’s Prove No Lost Causes

St Jude’s 3-10
Ranelagh Gaels 1-11

Ranelagh Gaels were desperately unlucky to crash out of the Junior C Championship on Tuesday night having played 50 minutes of fabulous football.

Away at Tymon North against St Jude’s in the second round the Gaels started and finished badly, which was their ultimate undoing.

They gave Jude’s a five-point head-start, but managed to get back level at the break – 1-5 apiece – thanks to a cheeky Johnny Conlon lobbed goal.

The first 25 minutes after the change of end produced some great play, though the Gaels lived to regret not tagging on the scores to kill off the game.

With five minutes left Ranelagh were leading by four, but in a crazy closing period conceded 2-3 to lose by five points.

There was only stunned silence dressing room afterwards, but now the team must make sure that they drive on for the remainder of the season – starting with a League game at the end of the month.
