Gaels Draw Some Comfort From Brendan’s Result

Ranelagh Gaels 1-11
St Brendan’s 2-8

IT was a game Ranelagh Gaels probably should have won, could have lost and ended up drawing.

Against St Brendan’s at Bushy Park on Tuesday night in AFL Division 8 the home side started slowly, but when the Gaels got going they looked good.

An Enda Marren goal shortly before the break put Ranelagh four points up, 1-5 to 0-4, but a quick goal and point from the visitors meant that the scores were level at half-time.

The home side played some good football on a humid night after the change of ends and probably should have been further in front in the closing stages.

As it was the Gaels were one ahead when Brendan’s got a goal late on to give them a late advantage.

But Liam O’Hagan’s side showed great resolve to shoot two points before the final whistle to ensure a draw and a valuable league point.

Attention now turns to Friday evening’s away game against Lucan.
