Ranelagh Gaels 2-9 Na Fianna 1-12

Ranelagh Gaels drew the first of their two back-to-back games with Na Fianna on Sunday morning.

The sides met in the Murphy Cup in Collinstown Lane and there is a rematch next Sunday in the AFL Division 8.

Playing against the strong breeze in the first half the Gaels contained the home team well and went in at the break leading 1-5 to 0-7.

Manager Liam O’Hagan made a number of switches during the interval, ensuring that every player got a run as he aims to get his team right ahead of next weekend’s League clash.

Na Fianna hit back with a goal from the penalty spot straight after the restart and they then enjoyed a period of dominance.

Paidi Sugrue, who raised the green flag in the first half, set up Enda Marren for the second to push the Gaels back in front.

Na Fianna got a late equaliser before the final whistle meaning that the sides finished level.
